day 14: a book that made me who I am
Well, once again, I failed to pull the camera out until after the kids were in bed. But, I did get to practice my low-light photography skills...which I despise. And I did get to document this amazing book; I love this book in general, but because it is part of my family history, it is even more dear to my heart.
My grandpa's family never attended church. He was in high school when he was assigned this book to read. Through reading it, he gained a testimony of our Savior and started to go to church with his mom and sister; he read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know whether it was true. That answer came strong to his heart and he has been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ever since. I am so grateful for this piece of literature that started my grandpa on the path of finding truth. Because of it, I was blessed to grow up with a knowledge of the truth.
This book is the story of Christ's life. And while it is a historical fiction, it depicts the truthfulness of our Savior. I try to read it every year around Christmas time and I have just pulled it out. I'm thrilled to turn these pages of my family history again. While my own testimony has come through reading the scriptures, prayer, and the words of living prophets, I love to read anything that testifies of my Savior.
I'm not thrilled with the composition of this photography (specifically that I cut off the bottom of the book while leaving tons of space at the top), but I do like the way the light is falling on the book. It is reminiscent of what my bedside table actually looks like at night while I read.
