day 17: comfort in scriptures
Today I started following along with a prompt series that helps to narrow the subjects I can shoot. I find myself wanting to just photograph my children, but I want to stretch outside my comfort zone-so I'm making myself take other pictures as well.
Today's prompt was "comforting". And my first thought was to capture me reading stories to my children or holding them as they cry. But then I thought about what comforting really means to me, and I realized that while my children run to me for comfort, I have learned to run to my Father in Heaven. So the best thing I could capture was studying my scriptures.
I am so proud that I didn't go with my "go-to" and just do a macro shot on a specific verse. This blog is all about stretching myself and I'm trying to think differently and creatively each day. I also forced myself to get in the picture again. I am amazed by the emotion that is drawn out when I simply get in the picture. This is how I look each day while I read; and it's beautiful to have that captured. (Not all days include Andes mints, but the best ones sure do!)
I used a tripod and a different focusing technique that I learned last night. Hurray! I also learned a new way to make sure my exposure is correct without having to take 10 pictures and adjust after each one. What!? This project has been so good for me.
