I've read about people taking photos by using only a flashlight or I-pad light. So this morning, when B woke up at the crack of dawn (because of a leaky diaper...NOOO!) I decided to give it a go. I turned on Curious George, wrapped him up in his blanket (or "et" as he calls it) and decided to capture this time in our life. He is my early riser, always has been; 6-6:30 beacons him each morning) and because of my crazy hormone stuff the last couple of months, I have been EXHAUSTED. This means that often, I'll turn on a show for him and curl up on the couch next to him to sleep for another 30 minutes or so.
Although the picture isn't one that I would send to a photo contest, or even post to facebook, I'm grateful for this 365 project, because I would have never pulled out my camera for a moment like this. It has forced me to stretch myself, to want to try different techniques and different types of light. Some days, I'm really proud of my photos, some days I've been embarrassed to post them, some days are somewhere in the middle. But regardless, I'm getting more comfortable with my camera. And more importantly, when I have images that turn out "blah", it encourages me to do some research so that I can produce a better photo next time. I've learned 10 fold more this last 1 1/2 months than the 2 1/2 years I've owned my camera.
Before starting this process, I could have never produced this image. I would've had to turn on my flash, thus destroying the whole point of the computer light shot. And with my new know-how, I have a season in my life captured not only in my heart, but for my eyes forever. How I'm sure I'll miss these early mornings with my Mr. in a few years.
