day 52: light
One of the most significant differences I've seen so far in my 365 project is the way I look at light. I view it in an artistic way now and when I see different lights streaming through my windows, it livens me up inside. Yesterday, the early evening light was streaming across my living room casting shadows on my table at the other end of the home. And suddenly, I was overcome with how awesome it was that my rattan backed chairs were casting a show that looked like a pretty trendy runner right down the center of my kitchen table. I also love the shadow of the plant on the back chair and the way the light has made the bottom leaves of my plant intensify. Light is truly magnificent. (I want go all metaphorical right now about how that makes me think of my Savior and such...but the children are beckoning).
Close up of the table with chair shadow. I want a shirt with this print on it.
And, of course, a shot of the B-ster with full concentration princess playing going on. It's a serious stage. He was running down the hall this morning, tripped, and because he refuses to ever let go of his toys, slammed his head right into the princess doll he was clutching as he hit the ground. Luckily, the doll hit just below his eye. This picture was taken right after he fell and you can see the little cut up by his eye; now it's starting to get a little purple. Perhaps he will get title of "first black eye" in our home.
I put the focus on his hands because I wanted to show the stage of playing with the princesses, but now looking at the picture, it's bothering me that his eyes aren't the focal point. (Because compositionally, his eyes are where the viewer's eye travels, they really need to be in focus.) Had I composed the picture differently, it would've been beautiful to have his hands in focus. It's always a learning game. But I'm enjoying making my mistakes and moving forward.
