check out the chub

I've always loved baby chub, but because of the weight scare with this one, it literally makes me giddy when I see little rolls on her legs.  It's so happy to see her growing!

This was her first time in the...what do you call this thing?! Well, anyway, it was her first time.

In other news, I'm going to buy my new lens this week (50mm f/1.8) and I am SO excited about it. I'm drooling for some booked (blurry background). There will be a learning curve with the prime lens, but i feel I've made great progress with the kit lens which according to the photography blogs I follow is "next to impossible to learn manual mode" with.  I'm feeling pretty good that I've been shooting manual exclusively for over a year now using just my adjustable aperture kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.5).  And now, it's time to have a lens that will help me capture better images of my kiddos and our life.  I've been saving my pennies for quite some time and I'm so excited!  I'm excited to show my kids that saving your money and sacrificing other things brings results.  They've been helping me put money away and I've been talking to them about this lens for some time (they think a lens is boring to save for and E keeps telling me that if we all put our money together we could get a fence instead...which really means she wants a dog because we keep telling her that's the reason we don't have one.)

J is 5 months old in this pic.
