day 9: gingerbread house

I love the Christmas magic that this picture depicts.  B is clapping his hands with joy and squeeling with delight and E is in totally concentration to get the peppermint exactly where she wants it.   Have I mentioned that I love Christmas?  I tried to pull a little "bringing Christ in" by asking the kids while we were building if Jesus was born in a beautiful house like this.  E thought I was going crazy. "Mom!  They don't have houses with candy."  But we talked about the manger as we ate candy and built the house and then we talked about how grateful we are for our own nice, warm house.  #parentingscore  I need to remember to talk about those things more often.

This is our first year making a gingerbread house (thank you Costco for making it the most simple project ever!)  The kids were ecstatic that I was letting them make a whole house out of cookies and candy. They ate a lot of candy.  E really got into the decorating; B would put a candy on and then take it back off again and plop it right in his mouth.

N is home sick today and he came out to join in the fun.  The kids thought they were in Heaven with him helping them.  And on a side note, during nap time, I ran out to the store and finished my Christmas shopping.  #lifescore
