I love candlelight. A lot. There is little that makes my heart more happy than sitting on my couch with a good read, cuddled with a blanket and seeing my candle flickering on my oven in the darkness. I love natural light photography, as I'm sure has been shown by my first week's pictures. So I've decided that at least once a week I need to make sure that I take a low-light photo. If this project is going to develop my photography skills, I need to push myself out of my comfort zone (taking pictures of kids in natural light).
In this photo, I wanted to capture the way the light bounces off the back of my oven. But because it was so dark in my room (the only light being the candle itself), The black space in the oven is really dominating in the photo. If I had pulled the candle out away from the back of the oven I think it would've helped. Because of my setting limitations with low-light, I didn't have the option to create more bokeh (the blurring of the background in photos). Maybe there is an option I'm not aware of yet, but there was nothing else I could think to do while still getting the light I wanted. (I'm still using my kit lense.)
On a "journal-ing" note: I totally forgot to take my camera this weekend. We spend last night eating out and playing games with some of our best friends from our married college days. We love seeing them; 5 couples with 12 kids and 2 on the way between us. SO crazy! And we also spent the night and morning/afternoon today at N's parent's house. I wish I had captured some of those memories, I guess I just learned to bring my camera with me everywhere:)
